With every day comes something new. Or, I guess I should say somethings. Every sunrise brings with it a fresh 24 hours of life. In Lamentations chapter 3 (from the Bible 😉) Jeremiah talks about how God's mercies are new every day. His goodness, and His kindness and His blessings are new in our lives, every day! How cool is that?
I don't know all that God has in store for tomorrow. We don't know the opportunities we'll come across, the people we'll meet, and the memories we'll make. But, I do know this: God has new mercies for tomorrow. And, since we all can choose how to live our lives, I choose to take advantage of all that God has for me. By trusting in Him every day, I can take advantage of all that he has in store for my life. Don't miss out on God's plan for your life. Take advantage of every day!
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Let's be honest. Sometimes life brings you something you weren't expecting. Sometimes bad things happen or things don't go as planned. That's the way life is sometimes, you know it and I know it too. But, life isn't all bad. There are the good times, the happy moments, and those memories that make you smile. There are ups and downs with life, and that's just how life is sometimes.
Hold up, JB. I get what you're saying. Life can be good or bad. Okay. But what does that mean? What does that have to do with taking advantage? And, what exactly are we supposed to take advantage of, anyway? Well, thanks for asking! I'll be sure to answer all of these questions in just a moment, but for now, let me tell you a story.
Earlier this week, my family got a call from NBC 5 News, and they were calling to request some time with me and my family. They were doing a story about my ACT score, and they wanted to ask me some questions. I was totally against the prospect at first. If you didn't know this about me, as extraverted and social as I am, I'm rather camera shy. I didn't really want to be on the news, and I had no desire to be interviewed. It wasn't a part of my plan. It wasn't what I wanted to do (note the italics for emphasis 😉). Initially, I was resistant. I really wasn't feeling it.
But then I talked with my dad about it. He reminded me that God sometimes opens doors in our life that we don't want to walk through. There are times when He positions us to give Him glory, and those times may not always be desirable, ideal, or comfortable. But that's when we have to give in to the Spirit and live Spirit-led lives. Since we are all God's children, we ought to listen to His Spirit, even when we don't want to (especially then 😉!) By taking advantage of the opportunities that God places in your life, you let the Spirit use you.
So, long story short, I did the interview. And yesterday, I was on the news! I got texts from friends saying they saw me on TV, and it was incredible. I know it was God who gave me the chance to be interviewed, and by taking advantage of the opportunity that He placed in my life, I was able to receive the blessing that He had in store for me. That's why we need to take advantage of every day. We don't know what God may have in store for us, but we don't want to miss out on His blessings for us. So, take advantage of every day and practice letting the Spirit lead you.
I hope I'm not sounding cliché when I say this. I guess I'll end with this. Try to take advantage of every day! Led the Lord lead and guide you. There really is no time to waste! 😉
